Add-ons from a directory.

Exact name Marketplace extension

Step 03 · Get connected
01

What it is.

A catalogue of extras, such as connections, skills or ready-made agents, that you or your admin can add to the tool.

02

What your tool calls it.

Your tool · ChatGPT Plugin directory
  • Plugin directory: OpenAI's catalogue of installable plugins. It replaced the app directory and is shared with Codex.

Also at ChatGPT: plugins

Your tool · Claude Claude directory plugins Claude directory (plugins)
  • Claude directory: Anthropic's catalogue of plugins. Outside developers submit plugins through a developer portal, and Anthropic reviews them before they go live.
  • plugins: Installable add-ons for Claude, first launched for Cowork. One example, Salesforce in Claude, bundles access to Salesforce sales data with 37 ready-made skills.
Your tool · Gemini Not found The research couldn’t establish one either way.
Your tool · Microsoft Copilot Agent Store
  • Agent Store: A store inside the Copilot app where users find and install agents, such as Copilot Cowork during Frontier.
Your tool · Perplexity Pluginsrolling out Plugins — Discover tab, published by Perplexity
  • Plugins: Installable bundles of connectors and skills for a particular job. They're managed on one Plugins page that also holds standalone connectors and skills.
Your tool · Grok Grok Build Plugin Marketplace Grok Build Plugin Marketplace (developer CLI)
  • Grok Build Plugin Marketplace: A built-in catalog of plugins for Grok Build, xAI's terminal coding tool. For developers, not grok.com chat users.

Also at Grok: Marketplace (Grok Bot)

Your tool · Meta AI and Muse Not found The research couldn’t establish one either way.
Your tool · Mistral Vibe MCP Connectors MCP Connectors directory (admins add from it)
  • MCP Connectors: Connections to third-party or self-hosted MCP servers. They come either from a Mistral-curated directory an administrator adds to the organisation, or from a server URL you enter.

03

Why it matters.

Our view: an add-on is someone else's code or instructions running inside your tool, and it may reach whatever you've connected. Who decides what gets added matters. Several vendors put admins in charge: Perplexity lets admins decide whether members can upload or create plugins, and Mistral's directory is where admins add connectors.

Not every catalogue is open to outsiders. Perplexity's Discover tab lists the plugins, connectors and skills that Perplexity itself publishes. Anthropic reviews plugins submitted to the Claude directory before they go live.

04

Words that trip people up.

  • Plugin means four different things at four vendors. More on "plugin" →
  • Renamed. ChatGPT's App Directory is now the Plugin directory.
  • Grok's marketplace is for Grok Build, its developer tool.
  • Not found for Gemini and Meta: our research couldn't establish a directory of add-ons for either. That isn't the same as "none".

What this step asks of you.

Step 03 · Get connected

Start read-only, with the least access that works. Approve each new connection before it's switched on.
