Why it matters.

Our view: it reaches files that were never uploaded anywhere. That's useful, and it's worth knowing before you point it at a folder.

Microsoft is the exception on this map: Copilot Cowork works on OneDrive and SharePoint, not your local disk.

Words that trip people up.

  • Computer. Perplexity's Personal Computer runs on your Mac or PC; its Computer is the agent. More on "computer" →
  • Renamed. OpenAI's Codex app became the ChatGPT desktop app.
  • Command line. Grok Build runs in a terminal and Mistral's Vibe Code is a command-line tool. Both are aimed at coding.
